Basis of the edition

The present edition is based on the photographs available at the Mainzer Photoarchiv of the Hethitologie Portal Mainz, as well as the available hand-copies and relevant secondary literature up to 2019. When the original manuscripts have been collated, this is noted in the commentary.

Commentary

Collated (March 2020). Small fragment, left edge partially preserved, fine-grained clay, now grey in color, clear script (size 3 mm).

The fragment may pertain either to a cult inventory or to a palace inventory. In the preserved portion of text, fragmentary descriptions of anthropomorphic and theriomorphic statues or statuettes are attested. The gen. sg. šallayaš in lines 6′ and 7′ shows that the text refers there to parts (perhaps the head?) “of a big lion” and “of a big leopard;” on line 8′ the unclear word ḫešni, possibly Hurrian, is attested (cf. KUB 18.9 + KBo 53.110 rev. iii 36, Miller 2008: 238; BGH 157, 159 with literature).
